EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A Bullard man who was found naked and carrying a shovel is behind bars after allegedly biting a deputy.

About 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Smith County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 16800 block of Deer Cove Road in Flint. When they arrived, they found Justin Carsten, 22, of Bullard, nude and carrying a shovel.

Officials later learned that Carsten was allegedly going door-to-door in his underpants, asking for work.

As deputies arrived, Carsten began to strip off his underwear. Deputies attempted to subdue Carsten, who appeared to be intoxicated or on some type of drugs, officials say. Carsten resisted arrest and deputies used a Taser, which officials say was ineffective.

A struggle ensued and Carsten allegedly bit one of the officers on the leg.

He was taken to a hospital and later booked into the Smith County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and assault on a public servant. Friday, Carsten remained in jail.

His bond is set at $27,500.
