A man tried to kidnap a child from a department store dressing room, according to police. The man has been identified and questioned by detectives.

College Station police responded to a Bealls in the Post Oak Mall for an attempted kidnapping. When officers arrived, a woman told them she had been shopping with her three daughters in the store around 3:50 p.m.

The mother went into a dressing room with the two youngest daughters, while the third one entered another dressing room alone. Shortly after the child, 6, had entered the fitting room, an unknown man opened the curtain and grabbed the little girl's wrist and tried to pull her with him. The girl began yelling and the man let her go and left the area immediately.

Police say the same suspect was seen inside of the JC Penney's store watching young girls. When he noticed employees watching him, the suspect left, possibly in a late 90's tan colored Ford Taurus.

Anyone with information is asked to contact College Station police at 979-764-3600.
