Veterans had the chance to learn about the state and federal benefits Saturday in Killeen.

The Texas Veterans Land Board held a benefits fair to inform local veterans about what benefits they qualify for.

The VLB, U.S. Department of of Veterans Affairs, and the Texas Veterans Commission were all on hand to answer questions.

Officials provided information about land, home and home improvement loans, as well as pending claims, health care needs, education and employment benefits.

"A lot of them, when they get out of the Army, they don't understand that they still have benefits. Because sometimes they're just ready to get out of the Army. So we try to bring it to them," said Doug Gault with the Texas State Veterans Homes and Cemeteries Program.

Veterans interested in learning more can find information at the Texas Veterans Land Board website or call 1-800-252-8387.
