According to Realtor.com, the top 10 zip codes searched all come from the state of Texas. The top four are from Waco and Woodway.

While realtors say there this demonstrates an interest in the area it doesn't necessarily translate to a top housing market.

Realtor Roman Novian said he's seen the area top a similar list two years ago. The most obvious reason is from the popularity of the HGTV show Fixer Upper.

"I think they just want to see what's out there they just want to look at the show and see these prices then they want to go and search for themselves," Novian said.

There's more to it than Chip and Joanna Gaines's home improvement show. Another big selling point, it doesn't cost much to live here compared to other cities.

"The low cost of living is always a good selling point for the Waco area you've got good schools low cost of living is definitely the number one," Novian said.

Chief Economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, Dr. James Gaines, said that it's a sign that the State economy is strong.

"This is a good example the average and median price home is extremely attractive if you live in Illinois, New York, Chicago, California, or Arizona. You're looking at the cost of housing being a fraction of the cost," said Gaines.

Another reason for all the internet searches, Novian explains is a low housing inventory. The number of houses on the market right now is fairly low meaning people are constantly doing their housing homework.

"You have people that may get online although an agent may have sent them a list of homes that may be available it's not enough for them maybe they want to get online to look in every corner," Novian said.

Realtors say the low inventory makes it an ideal market for those looking to sell their home.
