A local restaurant teamed up with the boys and girls club and celebrated Christmas Saturday afternoon.

Pluckers in Killeen formed a relationship with the Boys and Girls Club downtown a few years ago.

"We invite the Boys and Girls Club to bring a group down, and we feed them some wings, get them some drinks and then we give them presents just so they can kind of enjoy the holiday," Pluckers manager Aaron Stewart said.

DONATIONS WERE ACCEPTED FROM PLUCKERS STAFF -- AND ABOUT A WEEK AGO ENOUGH GIFTS WERE BOUGHT TO SEND EACH CHILD FROM THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB HOME WITH SIX GIFTS.

"A lot of the staff are people in this community themselves who are kind of struggling just like everybody is. So, the fact that we are able to give this amount is pretty exciting," Stewart added.

The Boys and Girls Club is thankful for the support of the community, especially Pluckers, that has given them opportunities they might not have otherwise: the chance to eat out at a restaurant and open presents on Christmas morning.

"We just embrace the community support because it does take a village to raise a kid," Boys and Girls Club Bigham Unit Director Angela Williams said.

The Pluckers/Boys and Girls Club holiday lunch is an annual event the restaurant hopes to continue to grow. This year about 35 children and their families were fed and given gifts.
