ABC: Investigation reveals hot air balloon pilot had drugs in system at time of fatal crash

Documents released on Friday indicate the pilot of a fatal hot air balloon that crashed near Lockhart, Texas in July had multiple drugs in his system at the time of the accident, according to ABC News. 

ABC News reports documents released by the National Transportation Safety Board indicate pilot Alfred "Skip" Nichols suffered from medical and psychiatric conditions. In addition, the report states Nichols had diazepam and the opiate painkiller Oxycodone in his system at the time of the crash.

The hot air balloon crash claimed 16 lives after it crashed on July 30 after it struck power lines.
