DPS: Deputy runs red light, hits vehicle

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a crash involving a deputy. 

According to DPS, the accident happened at 9 p.m. Wednesday on Austin Avenue and 17th St. 

A 2017 Mirage was stopped at a red light and the vehicle proceeded west on 17th when the light turned green. A marked McLennan County Patrol Unit was traveling south on Austin Avenue and drove through the red light, hitting the Mirage. 

The driver of the Mirage, 21, and her passenger, 19, only reported minor injuries. Neither of them were transported to the hospital. 

The deputy was not injured.
