With the holiday season approaching, the Harker Heights Police Department has released some helpful hints to remain safe this holiday season.
Some of these tips include being aware of your surroundings, locking your vehicles, and to not leave presents visible from outside.
Other tips include:
- If you have large or expensive items delivered to your residence, be sure someone will be home to accept them
- Don't leave large boxes outside the day after Christmas
- Have a friend check on your residence if you're out of town
- Use the buddy system when shopping
- Park your car in a well-lit area
- Be careful of what you post online, don't let others know you aren't home
- Wear your purse across the body to keep your hands free for your keys
- Be vigilant about your surroundings
- Check the backseat for potential criminals
- Ask for an escort to your vehicle at night
