WACO, TX (KXXV) -

A student was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure after his bike slid out in front of a car on the 1500 block of Cleveland, adjacent to the Cesar Chavez campus.

Waco ISD police said the 8th grader was being chased by a dog, and he crossed in the path of the car. He did not have brakes on his bike and was jumping off the bicycle when he was hit.

The student has no significant injuries. Waco ISD said he had scrapes on his hands and was walking after the incident.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and assisted. Waco ISD said the driver is not at fault.
