Robinson Police said that thieves stole bronze vases from the Waco Memorial Cemetery in Robinson.

“We know for sure that 72 bronze vases were stolen from the cemetery over that past week. There may be more reported later and there may even be some stolen from the nearby Chapel Hill Cemetery. We are still waiting on family and groundskeepers to notify us if they discover vases missing from area cemeteries,” Robinson Chief of Police Rusty Smith commented.

The vases are valued at $700 each, making the total stolen value at $50,400.

Smith said this isn’t the first time the vases have been stolen. He added that scrap metal is a hot commodity.

Robinson Police Department has contacted scrap metal buyers, but none have reported anyone trying to sell bronze vases.

There are no suspects in these thefts, and the Robinson Police Department ask that anyone with any information regarding the identify of these thieves call Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP (4357). Callers may remain anonymous.
