The Salvation Army bell ringers are collecting donations outside of shopping areas as part of the Red Kettle Program.

The money in the red kettles will go toward the Salvation Army Christmas programs, such as toys for children at the shelter. In addition the money will help fund other services offered by the organization all year round.

Cleveland Willis who has been a bell ringer for three years said he loves it.

“I enjoy to see smiles on people’s faces and bring Christmas to needy people,” Willis said.

The Salvation Army in Waco has a goal of collecting $160 thousand as part of their Red Kettle Campaign. As of Monday, it had collected more than $17,000.

The group is still looking for additional bell ringers. If you are interested in becoming one, contact 254-752-7261.
