Nolanville Police Chief Gary Kent resigned Wednesday citing a desire for retirement, Nolanville City Manager Kara Escajeda said.

According to Escajeda, the city will begin a search for a new police chief immediately. She said Kent’s official last day will be December 9, but he offered to stay on as police chief as long as needed to ensure an easy transition.

The announcement comes one day after the Copperas Cove Leader Press ran an article saying the city had issued “corrective action” against Chief Kent twice this year. The newspaper also quoted Kent as saying he’d complied with those corrective actions.
