Two people were airlifted to the hospital Sunday morning after a single-vehicle wreck in Clifton.

The wreck happened shortly before 7:45 a.m. on FM 56, less than half a mile east of County Road 3530 Fairview Drive.

A DPS trooper at the scene said the driver of a white Mitsubishi Galant lost control of the car, skidded off the road, and crashed into a rock fence. The trooper said the driver may have been going at an unsafe speed.

The driver and the passenger were airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Hillcrest in Waco in serious condition.

DPS spokesperson Sgt. D.L. Wilson said the two men are in their 20s and were wearing their seat belts.

No further information was available.
