More than 2,000 Baylor students stepped out onto the streets Saturday for a community service project.

It's part of the Steppin' Out organization's efforts to increase collaboration between Baylor University and the Waco community.

Every semester, students from more than 80 organizations help paint houses and clean yards up. They also work with nonprofits like Keep Waco Beautiful and Carnitas.

On Saturday, they visited 70 work sites in the Waco area.

"This is one of the things that really just speaks to what Baylor's about. We just really want to go out and serve the Waco community because they've done so much for us as college students, welcomed us in. And so this is a way for students to be able to give back to the Waco community," senior Morgan Smith said.

Baylor students have been "steppin' out" every fall and spring semester since 1989.
