Highlassies fall to San Jac

The McLennan Highlassies fell to San Jacinto 74-60 tonight in the Temple Classic.

The game was tied at seven with 6:25 to play in the first quarter. San Jacinto closed the quarter on an 11-1 run to take the 18-8 lead heading into the second period. McLennan rallied in the second, cutting the lead to six, 26-20, with 5:18 to play in the quarter. San Jac pulled away down the stretch and held the 42-24 advantage at the break.

San Jacinto maintained control in the third quarter, leading 59-37 heading into the final period. San Jac led 69-39 with 7:47 remaining in the game. The Highlassies began to rally again, going on a 16-0 run to trim the lead to 14, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. 

Velma Mitchell led McLennan with 20 points and Ann-Marie Dunlap added 13.

The Highlassies will face Coastal Bend at noon Saturday.
