Smith, Wilson, Washington, Francino Named ASC Football Players of the Week

BELTON, TX (KXXV) -

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player Reggie Wilson has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Cru’s 59-10 victory over Sul Ross State on Saturday. UMHB has now had at least one ASC Player of the Week following seven of the team’s eight victories.

Wilson, a junior cornerback from Houston and Dobie High School, returned a blocked punt 38 yards for one Cru touchdown and he set up another score with a fumble recovery. Wilson added four total tackles as the UMHB defense held the Lobos to 261 yards of total offense and just 10 points. He shares this week’s honor with McMurry University defensive back Jordan Washington.

The Cru is 8-0 overall and 5-0 in ASC play following the victory over Sul Ross State. UMHB will travel to Jackson, Mississippi this Saturday to take on Belhaven University in the final road game of the regular season.
