Student detained after bringing gun to Killeen middle school

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) -

A middle-school student was in police custody Friday morning after a Killeen ISD official said the student brought a gun to school.

Killeen ISD spokesperson Shannon Rideout said district officials received information about a student who brought a gun to class at Charles Patterson Middle School.

"Administration was able to take immediate action and confiscate the gun," Rideout said.

The student was taken into custody.

"Students and staff are safe in class, and the environment has been deemed secure by the Killeen ISD Police Department," he said.

No further information was available.
