The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golf team made another big jump, climbing six spots to #3 in the nation in the Bushnell Golfweek NCAA Division III Coaches' Top 25 Poll for this week. The UMHB men totaled 387 points to jump from #9 to #3 nationally in balloting of 19 head coaches from across the country and the Cru has moved up 17 spots over the last two polls. Huntingdon College held down the top spot in this week’s poll with 15 first-place votes and 447 total points. The Cru is joined in the top 10 by two other American Southwest Conference programs. U.T.-Tyler climbed eight spots and is now ranked 2nd with two first-place votes and 394 total points. Concordia Texas moved up five spots and is at #8 with 311 points. Schreiner University, Texas Lutheran University, Trinity University and LeTourneau University are all receiving votes to put seven Texas programs as receiving mention in this week’s poll. The UMHB men are also ranked #2 nationally in the Golfstat adjusted scoring rankings.“Moving up to #3 in this poll after climbing to #2 in Golfstat is an exciting step on our journey,” Cru head coach Jordan Cox said. “We recognize that polls don’t win championships for you, but they are a reflection of our successes. As a coach, I am glad for our team to be able to see something like this as a reward for their hard work and strong play. But there is still plenty of work to do if we are going to reach the goals we have set for this program.”
The UMHB men are coming off a team championship and record-setting scores at the UMHB Fall Invitational two weeks ago. UMHB will close out the fall schedule with the Abilene Intercollegiate at Diamondback Golf Club next Monday and Tuesday.
