TROY, TX (KXXV) -

The northbound lanes of I-35 in Troy reopened Wednesday morning after a crash involving an 18-wheeler closed them for several hours.

The Bell County Sheriff's Department said it happened shortly after 4 a.m., just north of the 311 northbound exit.

The Troy Volunteer Fire Department said the crash caused a grass fire, but the 18-wheeler did not catch on fire.

The crash blocked both northbound lanes of I-35 near the 311 northbound exit. Traffic was being diverted to the Big Elm Road exit.

The driver of the 18-wheeler said he was cut off by another driver, causing him to lose control of the 18-wheeler. The driver was not hurt.

The 18-wheeler hit two sections of a concrete barrier.

TxDOT diverted traffic off the interstate so that Grones Environmental Services could clean up the scene and so that crews could replace the two sections of the wall that were damaged.

TxDOT spokesperson Jodi Wheatley said both northbound lanes were reopened just after 8 a.m.
