The Texas Department of Public Safety said a woman has been taken into custody for evaluation after a police chase on I-35 on Tuesday.

DPS said the woman had called 911 and said that a man with a gun was in her vehicle. She said her vehicle was at a convenience store off I-35.

The vehicle sped off onto I-35 when Italy police approached. The chase continued into McLennan County.

DPS deployed the spike system at mile marker 342B to stop the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a fence and into a parked trailer near Crest Dr.

The driver was identified as Yolanda Harris, 43, of Mesquite. Harris had been reported as a missing person.

There were no other subjects in the vehicle. It is unknown if charges will be filed.

DPS is investigating the crash.
