Cameron Park Zoo mourns the loss of long-term zoo resident, Fezzik.

The large alligator snapping turtle resided in the Brazos River Country Aquarium.  He was transferred to the Cameron Park Zoo from the Central Texas Zoo in 1993.

Fezzik was taken to the Central Texas Zoo as an adult male by donation from the public.  His exact age is unknown, but it is estimated that he was hatched around 1940.

His loss was very difficult for the entire staff at Cameron Park Zoo.

Zoo visitors are also sure to miss him as they marveled at his massive size and often asked zoo staff members if he was real, since snapping turtles spend much of their time sitting completely still under water.
