A Central Texas non-profit organization is helping Haiti, a country devastated by Hurricane Matthew.

Janet Dorrell with Mission World, part of Mission Waco, left on Tuesday to help bring clean water to that country.

She said the lack of clean water has prompted diseases like cholera. Thirteen people have died from that disease there since Matthew made landfall.

“It's a gift. We have the information and we have the ability to go and we just go and we go do it. It's a difficult job but to serve with other people and to encourage them and to empower our people that we've served with for a long time is very important,” Dorrell said.

Dorrell took supplies to make bleach, keep water systems moving and provide first aid.
