WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Reed's Flower Shop has been in business in Waco for 86 years, and now, the business is about to do some remodeling after winning a makeover competition.

The shop entered the Florists' Transworld Delivery Makeover Competition and won.

Jaquita Fleming is an employee at Reed's, and she entered the business into the competition. She said she had to watch a webinar, send photos of the shop, and write an essay in order to enter the contest.

"My explanation was because this is an older shop that's been here for over 86 years," Fleming said. "We won, so it was a surprise to me."

The employee said the shop will receive $5000 worth of renovations done because they won the competition.

"I was happy because we knew that we needed it," she said. "We're real excited to see what he's going to bring in and do for us."

Fleming said she enjoys working at the shop because everyone there is so close, and that's why she entered the competition.

"We're all one big family here," Fleming said. "So many people come in here and... they remember all the old times."

Now, Reed's can look forward to making new memories for all of their employees and customers.

"We really hope that more people come back, see new items for sell, new displays and everything," Fleming said.

The renovations are scheduled to take place October 22-25, 2016.
