A Waco juvenile has been detained and charged in relation to recent clown threats in the Waco area, according to Robinson police.

According to a Facebook post, Robinson PD said the juvenile was a Waco ISD student. Police say the student was spreading clown threats.

Waco ISD released a statement saying the 14-year-old student had confessed to writing a post on September 29 threatening to kill people at local high schools.

The student was taken into custody and is charged with "making a terroristic threat," according to Waco ISD Police Chief Ken Boatman.

Police are still investigating if the student is related to other threats made in the Central Texas area.

Clown threats have been made to Waco High, Copperas Cove, Connally High School, and Killeen High as well as in parts of the country.

According to Waco ISD, the student will be held accountable for government funding lost in regards to parents taking students out of school and for any extra hours police worked during the investigation.
