UMHB Player Claims Conference Honor

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player John Mowery has been named American Southwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Cru’s 66-3 victory over McMurry University on Saturday. UMHB has now had at least one ASC Player of the Week following each of the team’s four victories.

Mowery, a junior placekicker from Leander High School, scored 10 points in the Cru’s win over the War Hawks. He hit a 22-yard field goal to open the scoring and then converted 7-7 extra points before giving way to Martin Guzman for the final two UMHB extra points.

The Cru is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in ASC play following the victory over McMurry. UMHB will return to action with a 1:00 PM kickoff against Howard Payne University (0-4, 0-1 ASC) this Saturday in Brownwood.

    Baylor track and field athletes produced 10 event titles Saturday at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.     The McLennan Highlassies picked up two 6-0 shut-out wins over the Cisco Lady Wranglers this afternoon in Cisco. Lizzie Donaldson picked up the win for the Highlassies in the circle for game one and Kyleigh Homesley got the save.
