UMHB Player Claims Conference Honor

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player John Mowery has been named American Southwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Cru’s 66-3 victory over McMurry University on Saturday. UMHB has now had at least one ASC Player of the Week following each of the team’s four victories.

Mowery, a junior placekicker from Leander High School, scored 10 points in the Cru’s win over the War Hawks. He hit a 22-yard field goal to open the scoring and then converted 7-7 extra points before giving way to Martin Guzman for the final two UMHB extra points.

The Cru is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in ASC play following the victory over McMurry. UMHB will return to action with a 1:00 PM kickoff against Howard Payne University (0-4, 0-1 ASC) this Saturday in Brownwood.
