Shankle Wins Showdown Wildcard Crown

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Senior Blair Shankle went undefeated, 3-0, in Bush’s $50,000 Waco Showdown Wildcard action this weekend to take the title and clinch a spot in the Bush’s $50,000 Waco Showdown on Nov. 6-13.

In the finale match Sunday morning, Shankle defeated Janice Shin in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

Shankle, the 54th-ranked player in the preseason, never dropped a set, won each match in two sets this weekend, flying to the finals and ultimately earning a spot in Bush’s $50,000 Waco Showdown on Nov. 6-13.

Baylor women’s tennis resumes fall action at the Rivera/ITA All-American Championship in Los Angeles, California, on Oct. 1-9. Also in that span, the Lady Bears host the Under Armour/HEB Kickoff in Waco on Oct. 7-9.
