WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Brandon Davis and D.T. Collins were students at ITT Technical Institute in Waco, and they said they were beyond shocked when they went to the school to find it closed.

"They tell me it’s time to come back to class, and there’s no more class," Davis said.

"I came up here and went to the doors, and the doors were locked,"Collins said.

ITT Tech said in a press release it is now shutting down all of their schools.

According to the release, ITT is closing because of "actions and sanctions from the U.S. Department of Education."

The release added that "the actions of our federal regulator to increase our surety requirements to 40 percent of our Title IV federal funding and place our schools under Heightened Cash Monitoring Level 2," is what ultimately lead to the closure.

A 2014 review of the school conducted by the Department of Education, ended with ITT Tech receiving a citation for not returning Title IV funds and giving students Pell Grants - even when they did not qualify.

Davis said he cannot believe this is happening.

"I’m disappointed in ITT," he said. "I’ve been going to ITT tech for a year and a half."

For Collins, the closure comes as a surprise to him, too.

"We found out two weeks ago about what’s going on, but we kept coming anyway hoping it would blow over," Collins said.

Now both men are trying to figure out what their next move will be.

"First thing to ring a bell is T.S.T.C," Davis said. "I want to go over there to finish my technology [degree]."

"Hopefully my credits will transfer to where ever I go," Collins said. "Now I have to find a school that will go with my hours at work, and it’s going to be difficult to find."
