Classic shoe addicts, also know as "sneakerheads," met to buy, sale, trade, and compete at the Waco Got Soles shoe show in Bellmead.

Vendors and collectors set up displays to show off shoes ranging from the highly coveted to the super rare. Local musical artists performed and some shoe-lovers competed to see who has the best shoes.

Ryan Serrano organized Waco Got Soles.

The self-professed "sneakerhead" said he wanted to throw the event to bring something new to the area.

"I finally decided that I would take a chance and do it here in Waco," Serrano said. "I'm getting a pretty good response [and] a lot more support here in Waco."

Serrano said this was the fifth event he's hosted. But this time he had a first in the competition category - a battle between women to see who had the nicest shoes.

"Right now we’re doing best female on foot," he said. "Which is the best female that has the best sneakers on."

A "sneakerhead" named Lauren won.

The typical competitions found at the show include "Best Heat," which is the display with the most popular shoes. Another competition is "Best Display," which is awarded to the person with the coolest looking display of shoes.

Serrano said the next "sneakerhead" event will be held in January. He said he plans on making that event even bigger and better than any he's had thus far because that show will celebrate two years since he started hosting the show.
