A few Waco police dogs will be receiving protective vests thanks to a donation.
Waco K-9’s Hondo, Viper, and Kempy are receiving bullet and stab protective vest from Vested Interest in K9’s, Inc. a non-profit.
The donation, $65,825, was presented to the “Help Officer Hickey Vest K9s” online fundraiser, a nationwide fundraiser that was created to help retired Officer Matt Hickey of Ohio keep his partner Ajax upon retirement. Hickey was able to purchase Ajax for $1 and donated the balance to Vested Interest, who provided 62 law enforcement dogs with the vests nationwide.
A protective vest for a K9 has value between $1,795 to $2,234.
