A Texas A&M football player was arrested Friday night for pushing his girlfriend to the ground.

College station police said 20-year-old Josh Walker, a junior linebacker for the Aggies, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member and interfering with an emergency request for assistance.

The Texas A&M Athletic department told News Channel 25 Walker has been suspended indefinitely from the team.

College Station Police said Walker and his girlfriend were arguing Friday afternoon and he pushed her to the ground. She landed on a child's rocking chair, causing some bruising on her hip.

Police said she tried to call 9-1-1 but Walker took her phone away. After some more arguing, he handed her his phone to call police.

Just as she started the call, police say Walker took the phone from her and put it in his pocket. As he put the phone in his pocket, the connection had gone through and dispatchers could hear the two arguing. Dispatchers sent police to the apartment.

Walker was arrested and book into the Brazos County Jail.
