Hoping for more rain? You are in luck! We have many more chances for picking up some much needed rain this week. Our unsettled weather will keep rain chances going all week long.
Our cold front that stalled to our south on Sunday, will start slowly moving north through our area on Monday. What does that mean for us? That boundary will help lift up the clouds and create more showers and storms. It will be scattered so some folks will see more rain than others. Good news is no severe weather is expected. The stronger storms will produce heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Be prepared to move indoors when the storms move in!
Our soils can handle the rain since it has been so dry as of late. However, if you we get slow moving storms, dumping lots of water in a short amount of time, flash flooding could occur. Average rain totals through Tuesday will be 1 to 2 inches, some places could see more. We will need to watch where the heavier rain sets up each day and keep an eye on low lying areas that typically flood.
A side effect of the higher rain chances and the increase in cloud cover is cooler temperatures. We are forecasting highs only in the 80s through Thursday. Not too bad!
No matter what, considering it is the middle of August and still summer, everyone can enjoy this weather forecast!
