Baylor Soccer Picked Fourth in Big 12 Preseason Poll

IRVING, Texas – Baylor soccer was chosen fourth in the Big 12 preseason poll, the league announced Wednesday.  Voted on by the league’s coaches, BU has been picked to finish in the top four in three of the last four seasons.

The Bears received 35 points in the poll that is headed by West Virginia (64), Texas Tech (57) and Oklahoma (42).  Behind the Bears are Oklahoma State (34), Texas (32), Kansas (30), TCU (22) and Iowa State (8).

Baylor is coming off a 9-6-4 (4-1-2 Big 12, second place) campaign in 2015 in which its season ended in the semifinals at the Big 12 Championship. Baylor returns 22 players, including eight starters, while welcoming 10 newcomers for the 2016 season. BU began preseason camp on Aug. 2 and hosts exhibition matches against the Houston Dash on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT and Houston Baptist on Saturday at 7 p.m. Baylor’s season opener is on Aug. 19 at Detroit Mercy.
