Rangers Activate OF Drew Stubbs From DL; Option OF Ryan Rua to Round Rock

Arlington, Texas The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has reinstated outfielder Drew Stubbs from the 60-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Ryan Rua to Triple-A Round Rock.  To make room on the 40-man roster for Stubbs, infielder Kyle Kubitza, currently on option at Triple-A Round Rock, has been designated for assignment.

Stubbs was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left small toe on May 23 and was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on June 29.  He suffered the toe injury while running the bases during the 9th inning of the Rangers’ game on May 22 at Houston.  He has batted .267 with one home run and 2 RBI in 10 games/4 starts for Texas since signing with the Rangers as a free agent on May 7, and has a .245 combined average in the majors this season with Atlanta and Texas.

Stubbs combined to bat .229 (11-48) with 2 home runs and 11 RBI over 15 games on injury rehabilitation assignment with the Arizona League Rangers (July 20-23) and Triple-A Round Rock (July 26-Aug. 8).  He went 3-for-5 with a double and RBI in his final rehab game with the Express on Monday vs. Nashville.

Rua has been on the Rangers’ active roster the entire season, batting .266 with 7 home runs and 20 RBI in 78 games.

Kubitza has batted .182 with 4 home runs and 15 RBI over 44 games with Round Rock since he was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in a June 21 trade.
