A memorial has been set for a Midway High School graduate that died after a boating accident on Tuesday.
According to a family friend, 18-year-old Nick Sheldon was boating with friends Tuesday evening when he dove headfirst into shallow water.
When Sheldon dove into the water, he hit his head on rocks lining the bottom.
Sheldon was unconscious when his friends pulled him from the water.
The friends, who were lifeguards, performed life-saving procedures on Sheldon.
Sheldon was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest with an apparent spinal injury and was placed on life support.
Sheldon was an offensive lineman for Midway High School and planned to attend Texas Christian University in the fall.
A memorial has been planned for Tuesday, August 9 at 3:30 p.m. in the Midway Performing Arts Center.
