The Navarro County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Dallas Field Division are investigating after finding more than 45 firearms and 100,000 rounds of ammunition inside of a Corsicana home on Thursday.

"There are just about any type of firearm that you can possess is at this location," Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said.

Officials found the weapons after executing a search warrant in the 8800 of W Highway 31 in Navarro County at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

This all came after arresting the resident, a 79-year-old from Corsicana on one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the Navarro's Sheriff's Office, Harvey Strain had a loaded pistol at the time of his arrest on Thursday afternoon.

Officials spent Thursday and Friday searching the home where they found more guns, even some inside of the walls.

"Everything about this case is surprising to us. Number one age of the suspect, the charge he has been arrested for, the amount of firearms here, the ammunition, the components to make firearms, where these things are being located, the calibers of the firearms themselves." Everything about this situation is not something we are accustomed to," Tanner said.

Tanner said his department called the ATF in Dallas for assistance based on the caliber of the weapons.

Strain could face additional charges for possession of weapons believed to be automatic.

"We do believe he was in possession of firearms that were illegal for him to possess," Tanner said.

Several components to make firearms were also found at the three-story residence, officials said.

Detectives will sift through evidence to determine whether there could be additional charges for the possession of child pornography.
