Baylor’s Cannon, Fuller Named Preseason All-Big 12

IRVING, Texas - Baylor junior wide receiver KD Cannon and senior center Kyle Fuller were selected to the 2016 Preseason All-Big 12 Team, the league office announced Wednesday.

It is the first preseason All-Big 12 honors for both players, but they were each named to the All-Big 12 second team at the end of the 2015 season.

The Bears are one of only four schools to have multiple players on the offensive side of the preseason team. Media representatives who cover the league have now chosen at least two BU players for the preseason All-Big 12 team in each of the last five years, including a school-record seven in 2014 and 2015.

Cannon was a starter at wide receiver in all 13 games for Baylor in 2015 and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore. He averaged 17.4 yards per reception, which ranked sixth in the Big 12, and 66.8 yards per game, which were eighth-best in the conference. Cannon was named All-Big 12 second team by the league coaches, ESPN, Phil Steele, San Antonio Express-News and Waco Tribune-Herald. He produced 868 yards and six TDs on 50 receptions for the season and added seven kick returns for 114 yards. He had at least one reception in all 13 games. Cannon has also already been named to the Maxwell and Biletnikoff Award watch lists in 2016.

Last season, Fuller was the starting center in all 13 games as a junior and earned All-Big 12 honors. He anchored an offensive line that paved the way for the nation’s No. 2-ranked rushing offense (326.7 ypg) and led the Big 12 with 1.15 average sacks allowed.

Fuller was named second-team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press, league coaches, San Antonio-Express News and Waco Tribune-Herald. He averaged an 88.9 percent coaches grade and totaled 51 knockdowns on the season. Fuller was also named to the USA Today All-Bowl team for his efforts in BU’s Russell Athletic Bowl victory and during the course of the season earned Lineman of the Week honors four times. Fuller has also garnered a place on the Rimington and Outland Trophy watch lists in 2016.

The media Preseason Big 12 Poll will be released on Thursday, followed by the annual Big 12 Football Media Days to be conducted in Dallas on Monday and Tuesday. Baylor will participate in Tuesday's portion of media days.

Baylor opens its 2016 season by hosting Northwestern State on Sept. 2 at McLane Stadium.
