DALLAS, TX (KXXV) -

Texas Ranger Joey Gallo shared a heartbreaking and touching memory of one officer that was killed in the July 7 ambush.

Gallo met Officer Patrick Zamarripa, 32, on a street in Downtown Dallas a couple of months ago.

Gallo said in an Instagram post that Zamarripa had approached him and fellow Ranger Nomar Mazara asking to take a photo with the baseball stars.

Zamarripa was one of five officers that were shot and killed in a violent ambush in Dallas.

Gallo also said that Zamarripa was an avid Rangers fan, but “more importantly a great person and family man.”
