One Temple man is behind bars tonight after intentionally crashing into the front yard where a group of children were playing.
Temple Police were called to the 600 block of South 13th Street around 2:00 p.m. Officers were told that a man was driving a maroon Ford Crown Victoria and had driven into the front yard of a residence.
According to witnesses at the house, they knew the driver, who has not yet been identified. Prior to the incident the driver was drinking and hanging out with a group at the home. The man got into an altercation and went to leave.
Once in the car- the man drove straight into the yard of the homeowner. He knocked over a tree and the trampoline that seven kids were jumping on at the time.
The man fled the scene but was stopped by police officers blocks away at 1400 block of West Ave E. Officers said the man appeared to be intoxicated.
The driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. The incident is still under investigation.
