The City of Austin is partnering with Fort Hood to help veterans transfer into civilian life.
Austin will be the first city in the nation to offer an internship program for exiting soldiers who are within 180 days of leaving the service.
The first interns will be placed in the Fleet Services Department in the coming weeks. The program will roll out city-wide over the next months.
