Waco police department investigates three of its officers, names released

The Waco Police Department is beginning an internal criminal investigation of three of its officers.

The investigation comes after allegations from a prisoner claimed the three officers injured him during an arrest.The incident happened on May 4.

Officers Kevin Spicer and Adam Beseda of the Street Crimes Unit stopped a 2002 Cadillac for a failure to stop at a designated point. The stop occurred at the intersection of J.J. Flewellen and Herring Avenue. The driver was 35-year-old Qualon Deshan Weaver. 

As they were arresting the suspect, Officer George Neville arrived on scene to assist. During the arrest, Neville grabbed Weaver around his neck. 

Weaver was booked for evading a motor vehicle and for possession of marijuana. He was also with an invalid license and failed to identify himself.

The McLennan County District Attorney's office previewed in-car video and saw the incident, reporting it to the police department. 

The officers were placed and will remain on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
