Waco Police Chief will retire after 39 years

The Waco Police Chief is retiring from the department after 39 years of service to the Waco community.

Brent Stroman has served his entire police career in the Waco Police Department.

Stroman came to Waco from Austin in 1977, after earning his degree in Police Administration from Sul Ross State University and received a Master's degree from Texas State University.

Stroman managed several departments within the police department and was appointed Police Chief in 2007.

He also serves on the executive board for the Texas Police Chiefs Association and teaches at the Tarleton State University campus at McLennan Community College.

In his career, Stroman implemented police and community partnerships, improved relations with the various populations in Waco, and a 42 percent drop in uniform crime rate.

Stroman will be honored at a retirement reception on his last day of service, July 31.
