The Summer Food Service Program kicked off in Waco Tuesday afternoon, providing free meals for all children ages 18 and younger.

The Texas Hunger Initiative, CitySquare, and Waco ISD Child Nutritional Services teamed up for a kick-off event. The event will include games and activities at various meal sites in McLennan County, including Guthrie Park, Mission Waco Youth Center and South Waco Community Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Throughout the summer, free meals will be served to children at nearly 70 sites across Waco and Bellmead. No enrollment, ID or proof of income is required to participate. Children can visit any site in the area.
