FREEPORT, TX (KXXV) -

One south Texas police officer had to deal with some fowl play Monday evening.

Officer Curtis Land with the Freeport Police Department chased a chicken across the road, trying to apprehend him using a pole with a loop on the end.

The chicken still managed to escape after running past gas pumps and under a patrol vehicle.

The officer said he lost sight of the bird around the Church’s Chicken restaurant.

On the Freeport Police Department Facebook page, they said, “If anyone sees it, we have a warrant for Felony Fowl Evading!”

Police said they do not know who owns the chicken.
