Two organizations have partnered to fight childhood hunger in the Waco area this summer. Dallas-based CitySquare and Mission Waco are launching Food on the Move, a program that will deliver healthy meals to children and youth throughout the area.

According to the organizations, Texas has one of the highest childhood poverty rates in the United States.

In a press release, CitySquare Director of Food Programs Kay Thomason said, “Food on the Move delivered over 250,000 free summer meals to children and youth from low-income neighborhoods, churches, nonprofits, and summer camps.”

Food on the Move also serves other parts of the state and country, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Austin, and Denver, Colorado.

The organizations are kicking off the partnership on Tuesday, June 14 at Mission Waco, located at 1305 N. 15th Street. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
