Sunday evening, members of the Waco community met in Heritage Square in Downtown Waco to memorialize the lives lost in the attack at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

Nearly fifty people met, sharing in poetry, prayers, and speeches. Organized by Interwaco and Waco Poets Society Community leaders from several different groups spoke to the crowd.

Waco Islamic leaders encouraged the crowd to ignore divisive rhetoric. Many speakers feared some would use the attacks to further marginalize and isolate groups.

The event ended with a moment of silence and calls to comfort and spread love.
