Police: Babysitter hadn't seen child hit by car since 1 a.m.

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -

Officers said that the toddler that died Sunday morning when hit by a car had been missing since 1 a.m.

During their investigation, they learned that the child had been with a babysitter while his parents were out. The babysitter admitted the last time she saw the child was at 1 a.m.

The accident was called into the police department at 2:09 a.m.

Temple Fire and Scott and White EMS responded to 3550 block of South General Bruce Drive after reports the child had been struck by a vehicle.

Officers at the scene identified the victim as the 2-year-old male by photos obtained earlier of the missing child. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Temple Police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Police are asking if anyone has any information to call Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-729-TIPS.
