Cameron Police rescued a girl from Little River Monday morning.

Officers received a call from a young woman who advised that she was going to drive her vehicle into the Little River.

Officers were dispatched to the local bridges in the area. The river was at flood stage and flowing was extremely swift.

The young woman called again, this time saying she had wrecked out going into the water.

Officers discovered a vehicle in mud and brush. The vehicle was in danger of possibly falling into the river and being swept downstream.

The young woman was inside the vehicle on the phone with 911.

Officer Luis Alejo and John Torres from the Cameron Police Department ended up bursting out the windows to the front of the vehicle and pulled the victim out through the window.

Officer Clay Domel from Cameron PD arrived on scene and used an extended pole to help pull the officers and the victim up from the river banks.

The victim was brought out by officers and transported to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple with unknown injuries.

Cameron Fire Department also responded to the scene.  Officers also required assistance to get off the banks due to the mud.
