On Saturday, the Bell County Democratic Party hosted a rally outside the Target store in Harker Heights to support the company’s transgender restroom policy. It allows transgender customers to use the restroom that matches their gender identity.

Louie Minor with the Bell County Democratic Party said many Fortune 500 companies are adopting these policies and the group wants the community to know they support this inclusion.

“It's easy to discriminate and to hate and idea, the transgender community has a lot of hate crimes targeting them so we're going to support them our community's going to be supportive and that's what we're going to continue to do and fight for here with the Democratic Party in Bell County,” said Minor.

During the rally, members of the group chanted “no hate in my state” as they showed their support. Minor said an easy way to fix the inclusion programs would be for businesses to have unisex bathrooms in order to accommodate everyone.

However, not everyone agrees with the policy and the company has faced backlash for its stance on transgender bathrooms.
