A McLennan County man will spend 11 years in prison after he was found guilty of indecency with a child.
According to the District Attorney's office, Barnes waived the sentencing by jury accepting the prison term in TDC.
Thursday, the jury opted not to find Barnes guilty of aggravated sexual assault,but the lesser charge of indecency with a child.
The initial allegations said he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a seven year old girl three times in June of 2013.
Prior to the deliberation phase, both sides presented their closing arguments today.
The defense argued the allegations were driven by the defendant’s vindictive ex-wife who coached the child.
The prosecution however argued the little girl's testimony was too consistent and detailed for it to be a lie.
