Highlassies earn all-conference honors

Ten members of the eighth-ranked McLennan softball team were named to the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference team.

Freshman infielder Theresa Gonzales was named the Co-Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection. Sophomores Marisa Flores (outfielder) and Kayleigh Williams (pitcher), along with freshmen Victoria Gonzales (infielder) and Dariann Resendez (outfielder), were also first-team selections. Sophomores Andrea Gonzales (catcher) and Makayla Hernandez (designated player) were second-team selections along with freshmen Chanlynn Turner (pitcher), Elizabeth Svienty (infielder) and Serena Saldivar (infielder).
 
Theresa Gonzales, Victoria Gonzales, Turner, Svienty and Resendez were selected to represent McLennan on the Region V North squad at the Texas Junior College Softball Coaches Association Sophomore All-Star weekend to be held in the fall.

    The No. 23 Texas A&M Aggies claimed the finale of the series against the Vanderbilt Commodores, grinding out a 6-4 win at Hawkins Field on Sunday afternoon. The Aggies drew first blood in the top of the fourth inning. With one out, Braden Shewmake poked a single to leftfield and he stole second base with two outs.
